COUNTY OF HAWAII <br />STATE OF HAWAII <br />RESOLUTION NO. gd2 09 <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S) AND CREDITING SAME TO <br />A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S) <br />WHEREAS, aggressive driving is recognized as a serious problem nationally and as <br />being a major cause of traffic accidents resulting in serious injuries or deaths on our roadways; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the Hawaii Police Department would like to expand their successful <br />Aggressive Driving Program to include Hawaii County Council District 4; and <br />WHEREAS, the objective of the program is to reduce the incidents of aggressive <br />driving behavior and the number of traffic accidents within the major traffic corridors; to <br />identify and cite drivers demonstrating aggressive driving behavior; and to enhance community <br />awareness regarding aggressive driving behavior; and <br />WHEREAS, consistent enforcement is one of the strongest deterrents to aggressive <br />driving behaviors and speeding violations on all East Hawaii roadways; and <br />WHEREAS, the Hawaii Police Department will conduct a minimum of SG <br />enforcement projects in Council District 4, both highly visible projects during peak traftlc <br />periods and inconspicuous projects utilizing unmarked vehicles; and <br />WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to <br />the Hawaii County Police Department to be used to fund a Aggressive Driving Program in <br />East Hawaii; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the <br />following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below: <br />FUND: General <br />AMOUNT OP <br />APPROPRIA"PION: $6,000 <br />OUT AND FROM: <br />010.101.5101.91 Clerk-Council SVC -Contingency Relief $6,000 <br />
