COUNTY OF HAWAII <br />RESOLUTION NO. <br />STATE OF HAWAII <br />117 09 <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S) AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S) <br />WHEREAS, the Kamehameha Day Celebration is planned on June 11, 2009 in North <br />Kohala; and <br />WHEREAS, annually, the North Kohala King Kamehameha Day Celebration in Kapa`au <br />attracts more than 3,000 spectators, whether local residents, island neighbors, or visitors from <br />around the world; and <br />WHEREAS, the North Kohala King Kamehameha Day Celebration parade is a colorful <br />highlight to this celebration, featuring Hawai`i's cultural legacy and heritage with floats <br />decorated with tropical flowers and the procession of the Pa`u Princesses, each representing the <br />eight Hawaiian islands; and <br />WHEREAS, funds have been requested to help fund insurance, road closures and <br />permits to ensure that the event is safe and successful; and <br />WHEREAS, the North Kohala Community Resource Center (NKCRC), anon-profit <br />501(c)(3) corporation, has agreed to act as the fiscal sponsor for the funding of this event; and <br />WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 9 will be appropriated to <br />the Department of Research and Development to be used towards the North Kohala King <br />Kamehameha Day Celebration to defray the costs of this insurance, road closures and permits for <br />this event; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the <br />following amount is hereby transferred and appropriated as set forth below: <br />FUND: General <br />AMOUNT OF <br />APPROPRIATION: $3,500 <br />
