HI 96720 <br /> Re: Testimony in Support of the Change of Zone & Special <br /> Management Area (SMA) <br /> Mr, Chairman and Commission Members, <br /> I am Donald Medeiros of the Hawaii Operating Engineers Industry <br /> Stabilization Fund. We are ajoint Labor and Management organization <br /> representing approximately three thousand members in Hawaii's heavy <br /> construction industry and approximately three hundred employers. <br /> I come before you this morning in support of a Change of Zone and a <br /> SMA Use Permit, that would allow the Developers of Ka'upulehu <br /> Development to further their project that will provide much needed <br /> employment opportunities as well as protect the important resources at <br /> the site. <br /> 1 do not have to remind you that the current prolonged economic <br /> downturn in Hawaii has had a tremendous impact on our members and <br /> their families. I am here today because we have a responsibility to our <br /> members to provide employment opportunities in an industry that we are <br /> proud to be a part of.
