COUNTY OF HAWAII <br />STATE OF HAWAII <br />RESOLUTION NO. 185 09 <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S) AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S). <br />WHEREAS, Hilo Medical Center Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, <br />supports the health care of our community and its visitors by assisting Hilo Medical Center <br />develop its capabilities through volunteerism, community education, and financial support; and <br />WHEREAS, the Hilo Medical Center Foundation created "The Rural Family Practice <br />Residency Program" as more physicians are needed to care for our growing and aging population <br />on the Hawaii Island; and <br />WHEREAS, one of the Hilo Medical Center Foundation's goals is to train young <br />physicians as Family Practitioners, specializing rural medicine; and <br />WHEREAS, annually six physicians will graduate and six new physicians will enter the <br />program; and <br />WHEREAS, the Hilo Medical Center Foundation along with the Community Healthcare <br />Action Taskforce and the Kona Community Hospital Foundation are working together to keep <br />this program alive; and <br />WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 9 will be appropriated to <br />the Hawaii Fire Department to help fund the "Rural Family Practice Residency Program" at the <br />Hilo Medical Center.Foundation; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the <br />following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below: <br />FUND: General <br />AMOUNT OF <br />APPROPRIATION: $4,241.62 <br />
