No. 164-09 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> TIME: 10:06a.m. <br /> <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> <br /> Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 164-09, reports as follows: <br /> <br /> Resolution No. 164-09, transmitted by Finance Director Nancy Crawford, via Communication No. 333, <br /> dated May 6, 2009, authorizing the Office of the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the Research <br /> Corporation of the University of Hawaii (RCUH) to administer the evaluation of the Big Island Drug <br /> Court program. <br /> <br /> In 2007, the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney was awarded a Community Oriented Policing Services <br /> (COPS) Methamphetamine Initiative Grant by the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Community <br /> Oriented Policing Services. The Office of the Prosecuting Attorney had applied for the funds to improve <br /> the Big Island Drug Court's efforts to more effectively intervene and engage the methamphetamine <br /> offender in a timely manner. To assess the overall success of the implementation of this grant, the Office <br /> of the Prosecuting Attorney will be contracting with the Research Corporation of the University of <br /> Hawaii (RCUH). <br /> <br /> Councilmember Naeole asked what was involved with the evaluation.
