No. 337/Bill No. 79 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> TIME: 10:06 a.m. <br /> <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> <br /> Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Bill No. 79, reports as follows: <br /> <br /> Bill No. 79, transmitted by Director of Finance Nancy Crawford, via Communication No. 337 dated <br /> May 6, 2009, amends the Capital Budget by appropriating the first increment of the fuel tax increase <br /> established by Resolution No. 504-08. Projected revenues are being allocated based on each district's <br /> percent of miles of local streets, for all roads maintained by the County. Below is the breakdown of the <br /> programs: <br /> <br /> <br /> PROGRAM AMOUNT <br /> <br /> Roadway Projects (Engineering) $2,000,000 <br /> <br /> Bridge Inspection, Repair, & Replacement, 1,000,000 <br /> Program (Engineering) <br /> <br /> ADA Curb Cut & Accessible Route Program 500,000 <br /> <br /> (Engineering) <br /> Local Road Improvements (Highways) 3,500,000 <br /> <br /> TOTAL $7,000,000 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Pursuant to Section 46-7, Hawaii Revised Statutes, and Section 13-13(b), Hawaii County Charter, the <br /> Mayor is hereby authorized to apply for, receive and expend the funds for the Department of Public <br /> Works. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Ford asked for the status of the County's ADA curb upgrades, and why an additional <br /> $500,000 was being requested. Galen Kuba of the Department of Public Works stated that all required <br /> curb upgrades had been completed but that part of the settlement that the County agreed to was to keep <br /> $500,000 over a two year period to respond to requests for upgrades from the disabled community. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> FC Report No. 66 <br /> Page I <br />
