Arakaki, Chair <br /> and Council Members <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> 25 Aupuni Street <br /> Hilo, HI 96720 <br /> Chairperson Arakaki and Members of the Council: <br /> The amended Operating Budget for the County of Hawaii for <br /> the fiscal year 1997-98 is hereby submitted. As amended, <br /> the Operating Budget for all funds totals $179,563,196, a <br /> decrease of $1,054,648 from the March 1st submittal. The <br /> amended budget represents a 6.3% decrease from the <br /> Operating Budget of the 1996-97 fiscal year. <br /> The General Fund revenues and expenditures will decrease <br /> by $2,216,801. The decrease is possible because of the <br /> approval of S.B. 257 amending the employer contribution <br /> requirements to the Pension Accumulation Fund. <br /> Adjustments have also been incorporated in the Operating <br /> Budgets of the Highway Fund, the Sewer Fund and the <br /> Bikeway Fund. For informational purposes, we have <br /> attached a listing and narrative summary of all amendments. <br /> while we present this amended budget proposal, we have not <br /> included provisions to address impacts resulting from the <br /> Konno vs. County of Hawaii Supreme Court ruling. The <br /> State Legislature has not acted to provide counties with <br /> necessary legislative remedies referenced in the Supreme <br /> Court ruling.
