No. 338-00 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> TIME: 10:32 A.M. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 338-00, reports as follows: <br /> Resolution No. 338-00, transmitted jointly with Bill No. 336 by Director of Finance <br /> Dixie Kaetsu, via Communication No. 958, dated October 13, 2000, authorizes the County of <br /> Hawaii to enter into an agreement with the State of Hawaii for an occupant protection grant. <br /> The State Department of Transportation Public Affairs Office -Safe Community Program has <br /> authorized funding to conduct seatbelt enforcement roadblocks in the County of Hawaii. This <br /> program intends to reduce motor vehicle front seat occupant fatalities and reduce injuries and/or <br /> fatalities to children by increasing child safety seat use during Thanksgiving, January 1-15, 2001, <br /> Buckle Up Week in May 2001 and Labor Day weekend. <br /> Pursuant to Section 46-7, Hawaii Revised Statutes, county departments must obtain the consent <br /> of the council to enter into agreements with the federal or state governments respecting action to <br /> <br /> be taken pursuant to any of the powers granted by law to furnish, expend and receive any funds <br /> or other assistance in connection with projects being or to be undertaken pursuant to those <br /> powers. <br /> Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 338-00 <br /> and recommends its adoption. <br /> smc <br /> A <br /> CHUNG X Respectfully submitted <br /> ELAAIONOFF X COMMI EON FINANCE <br /> JACOBSON X <br /> LE TODD X <br /> PISICCHIO X <br /> SM X <br /> TYLER X AARON S.Y.
