The attached bill for an ordinance <br /> extends the sunset date from six months to one year. <br /> Unless amended, public use of the Haleki`i Street Extension will end on September 4, <br /> 2009. Our assessment has shown that opening the Haleki`i Street Extension to the general public <br /> for one-way southbound travel has provided the intended benefit by significantly easing traffic <br /> congestion at peak hours. The Department of Public Works believes that an additional six <br /> months is warranted, and will provide relief to area motorists until a permanent solution is <br /> implemented. <br /> We request that this matter be waived from committee, as enactment prior to September <br /> 4, 2009, is crucial. <br /> If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me at 961-8324. <br /> <br /> <br /> oft, W w-, <br /> Warren H.W.
