y.._.~:.p _. <br />o ~ o <br />RESOLUTION NO. ~y41 83 L <br />WHEREAS, the Big Island Council of Filipino Catholic Clubs will <br />be hosting the 33rd Diocesan Conaress of Filipino Catholic Clubs <br />Convention on November 25, 26, 27, 1983 here in Hilo; and <br />WHEREAS, this organization of Catholic Filipino lay people has <br />been active in our communities for thirty-three years and has been <br />the needed catalyst by which its members, their families and <br />supporters have spiritually, culturally and educationally enriched <br />their lives; and <br />WHEREAS, in 1948, the Reverend Monsignor Osmundo Calip assigned <br />from the Philippines, founded the Filipino Catholic Clubs, for the <br />purpose of rejuvenating Catholicism among the immigrants who had <br />fallen away from the faith; and <br />WHEREAS, Monsignor Calip's successful pioneering efforts is <br />reflected today by the existence of five island councils and <br />thirty-seven parish units; and <br />WHEREAS, the theme of the 33rd Diocesan Congress is "Lay <br />Ministry: Our Baptismal Commitment", intended to focus on the many <br />volunteer services that members devote to their parishes in teaching <br />and practicing religious education, attending to the hospitalized, <br />giving communion to shut-ins, serving as Eucharistic Ministers, and <br />other noteworthy deeds beneficial to themselves and the Church. <br />Res.
