<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII <br /> <br /> ':;i~ BILL NO. 124 <br /> <br /> ORDINANCE NO. <br /> <br /> <br /> AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 24 OF THE HAWAII COUNTY CODE 1983 <br /> (2005 EDITION, AS AMENDED), RELATING TO VEHICLES AND TRAFFIC. <br /> <br /> BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII: <br /> <br /> SECTION 1. Purpose. The purpose of this amendment is to address a need to provide <br /> <br /> more time for loading and unloading activities, as the current five-minute allotment, on average, <br /> <br /> has proven to be inadequate. <br /> <br /> SECTION 2. Chapter 24, article 8, division 3, section 24-212.1 (Standing in active <br /> <br /> loading and unloading zones), paragraph (a), of the Hawaii County Code 1983 (2005 Edition, as <br /> <br /> amended), is amended to read as follows: <br /> <br /> "(a) No person shall stop, stand or park a vehicle for any purpose or <br /> length of time other than for the expeditious loading or unloading of <br /> passengers or for the expeditious unloading and delivery or pickup <br /> and loading of materials in any place marked as an active loading <br /> and unloading zone during hours when the regulations applicable to <br /> such active loading and unloading are effective, and then only for a <br /> period not to exceed [five] fifteen minutes." <br /> <br /> SECTION 3. Material to be repealed is bracketed and stricken. New material is <br /> <br /> underscored. In printing this ordinance, the brackets, bracketed material and stricken material <br /> <br /> and underscoring need not be included. <br /> <br /> SECTION 4. If any provision of this ordinance, or the application thereof to any person <br /> <br /> or circumstance, is held invalid, such invalidity shall not affect other provisions or applications <br /> <br /> of the ordinance which can be given effect without the invalid provision or application, and to <br /> <br /> this end, the provisions of this ordinance are declared to be severable. <br />
