REPORT OF THE <br />COMMITTEE ON PLANNING <br />DATE: July 7, 2009 <br />PLACE: Councilroom <br />Ben Franklin Bldg, 2"d Floor <br />333 Kilauea Avenue <br />Hilo, Hawaii <br />TIME: 4:00 p.m. <br />Re: Comm. 408Bi11 No. 101 <br />Council Chair and Members <br />Hawaii County Council <br />Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br />Your Committee on Planning, to which was referred Bill No. 101, reports as follows: <br />Bill No. 101, transmitted via Communication No. 408 from Mayor William P. Kenoi, <br />dated June 2, 2009, presents a Time Extension Request by Grace Community Church, at <br />Honokohau 2"d, North Kona, Hawaii, covered by Tax Map Key 7-4-06:038. <br />Bill No. 101 seeks to amend Condition D (Final Subdivision Approval) of Change of <br />Zone Ordinance No. 98-08. The property is located on the east side of Palani Road, <br />adjacent to and north of the Kona Christian Academy. <br />Communication No. 408 reports that the Hawaii County Planning Commission, as <br />required by Chapter 4, Sec. 6-4.3(C), Hawaii County Charter, considered the above <br />request at its meeting on May 15, 2009. The Commission concurred with the Planning <br />Director's reasons for recommending favorable consideration of the request. <br />There were no statements from the public regarding this matter. <br />Gary Summers, Assistant Pastor of Grace Community Church and Galen Kuba, Engineer <br />for the Department of Public Works were present to answer questions from your <br />Committee members. <br />Committee Chair Donald Ikeda requested that Mr. Summers provide your Committee <br />updated information and documentation including, but not limited to, correspondence <br />from Department of Water Supply, Planning Department under the former administration <br />and the current administration, escrow information, and other related and pertinent <br />information. Mr. Summers also volunteered to provide your Committee with a written <br />copy of "long and involved facts." <br />PC Report 36 <br />
