No. 399 <br />Council Chair and Members <br />Hawaii County Council <br />Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br />Your Committee on Public Works and Intergovernmental Relations, to which was referred <br />Communication No. 399, reports as follows: <br />Communication 399, transmitted by Council Chair J Yoshimoto, dated June 9, 2009, forwarded <br />the Mamalahoa Highway Bypass Sixty (60) Day Report the report, dated .Tune 3, 2009 from <br />Warren H.W. Lee, Director of the Department of Public Works. The report provides the amount <br />of motorists using the bypass; discusses the effect on the "Kainaliu Crawl;" includes reports from <br />the residents and developers in the area; reports on daily operations in controlling traffic, status of <br />safety improvements, plans for future safety improvements; and provides the department's <br />recommendation. This report is submitted pursuant to Ordinance Nos. 08-58 and 08-59, which <br />also require the Council to take appropriate action to determine the continued use of Haleki`i <br />Street as a public vehicle thoroughfare. <br />At its meeting of July 7, 2009, Your Committee recommended acceptance of the contents of <br />Comm. 399. Items from all committee agendas for July 7, 2009 were put to a re-vote due to <br />issues of legality.
