REPORT OF THE <br />COMMITTEE ON PUBLIC WORKS AND <br />INTERGOVERNMENTAL RELATIONS <br />DATE: July 7, 2009 Re: Comm No.407/Bill 100 <br />PLACE: Council Chambers <br />Ben Franklin Bldg, 2"d Floor <br />333 Kilauea Ave. <br />Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br />TIME: 10:00 a.m. <br />Council Chair and Members <br />Hawaii County Council <br />Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br />Your Committee on Public Works and Intergovernmental Relations, to which was referred <br />Communication No. 407Bi11 100, reports as follows: <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 24 OF THE HAWAII COUNTY CODE 1983 <br />(2005 EDITION, AS AMENDED), RELATING TO VEHICLES AND TRAFFIC {adds South <br />Kopua Road to Article 10, Division 1 (Speed Limits), Section 24-255, Schedule 3 (25 mile per <br />hour limit), pazagraph (g), Puna, pursuant to a request from the Hawaii County Police <br />Department to update the Hawaii County Code to ensure that the Traffic Schedules section of <br />Chapter 24 reflects field conditions}. <br />As testified on Bi1199, Puna Community Policing Officer Scott Amaral again stated this <br />codification is requested to assist with reducing the protestation traffic at the County Court. <br />Ronald Thiel of the Traffic Division stated this was not a reassignment of speed, as all unmarked <br />County roads aze default 25 MPH.
