No. 410 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> Ben Franklin Building III <br /> 333 Kilauea Avenue, 2" Floor <br /> Hilo, Hawaii <br /> TIME: 11:45 a.m. <br /> <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> <br /> Your Committee on Environmental Management, to which was referred Communication No 410, <br /> reports as follows <br /> <br /> Communication 410 from Mayor Billy Kenoi dated June 16, 2009, requests confirmation of the <br /> appointment of Scott Enright of Council District 1, to the County of Hawaii Environmental <br /> Management Commission Communication No 410 notes that Mr Enright was the Project Manager <br /> for ITC Water Management, Cultivation and Irrigation Superintendent for Hamakua Sugar, and <br /> Orchard Superintendent for Kilauea Agronomics <br /> <br /> Mr Enright states he is a Democrat and if confirmed, will serve a term to end on December 31, 2013, <br /> replacing Samuel Sumner whose term expired on December 31, 2008 <br /> <br /> Pursuant to Article VI, §6-5 5, Hawaii County Charter, members of the Environmental Management <br /> Commission shall be appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the Council <br /> <br /> At the July 7, 2009 meeting of the Committee on Environmental Management, Corporation Counsel <br /> Lincoln Ashida was present on behalf of Mayor Kenoi He affirmed the selection of Mr Enright's <br /> appointment to the Environmental Management Commission and asked for favorable consideration <br /> by the Council Councilmember Yagong stated that Mr Enright is a very prominent and well <br /> respected individual who takes great interest in the Hamakua district Mr Yagong noted the <br /> importance of the Environmental Management Commission especially in light of the eventual close <br /> of the Hilo landfill and potential new technologies which will require very important decisions to be <br /> made Councilmember Greenwell stated his desire to discuss the future of solid waste with <br /> Mr Enright as well as the opportunities that now exist which were nonexistent a few months ago <br /> The Committee agreed to waive Mr Enright's appearance before the full Council for final <br /> i' confirmation <br /> <br /> <br /> I <br /> <br /> <br /> f <br /> I <br /> EMC Rpt No 5 <br /> <br /> <br /> C <br />
