Takase via Communication <br /> No. 498 dated August 19, 2009, authorizing the Abandonment of Road Remnant "R" <br /> (Portion of TMK: (3)2-6-010), and Exchange of Real Property with Paulette L. Pang-Ching <br /> (TMK: (3)2-6-010:39), and Lawrence S. Ojiri and Gwen S. Ojiri (TMK: (3)2-6-010:079), situate at <br /> Kaiwiki, South Hilo, Hawaii. <br /> Il <br /> k There was no testimony from members of public. <br /> Committee Chair Brenda J. Ford relinquished her seat to Committee vice Chair Kelly Greenwell. <br /> <br /> Sections 2-1 11 of the Hawaii County Code permits the exchange of real property for private property, <br /> and Section 2-118, Hawaii County Code allows for the disposal of remnant parcels. <br /> <br /> Council Member Dominic Yagong commented that due to heavy rain and flooding, Kaiwiki Road, which <br /> is owned by the County of Hawaii, has collapsed, undermining the roadway. The road is in need of <br /> emergency repairs. The Pang-Ching and Ojiris have agreed with the County to exchange that portion to <br /> reconstruct the roadway for equal parcels of unused County rights-of-ways on the opposite side of their <br /> properties.
