<br />I <br /> <br />I <br />COUNTY OF HAWAI'I STATE OF HAWAI'I <br /> <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 258 09 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION TO RESTORE KAILUA VILLAGE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Kailua Village has historically been considered the cultural and economic <br />center of North Kona; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the activity generally associated with the Village has radiated beyond its <br />perimeter; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the aging Village center is now populated with businesses that are barely <br />economically viable; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, this deterioration of the village center now displays a cultural and social <br />setting no longer inviting or attractive to the visitor or the resident; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it is now possible to attain funding (private sector/government) for urban <br />renewable projects; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Village qualifies for this funding; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HA W AI'I that the <br />County Council facilitate meetings with the Kailua Village groups and other interested <br />stakeholders to seek a reconstructive course to revitalize and restore the essence and stature of <br />the Village; and, <br /> <br />Pagel of2 <br />
