Real Property Tax Board of Review <br /> 1996-97 Annual Report <br /> <br /> A. Introduction <br /> Pursuant to the provisions of Chapter 19, Article 12, Section 19-97(e), Hawaii County <br /> Code as amended, the members of the Real Property Tax Board of Review submit the <br /> following report of activities and recommendations of the 1996-97 tax year. The <br /> recommendations relate to both legislative and administrative matters. <br /> The following is a list of officers and members of the Board: <br /> Bill Thibadeau, Chairman <br /> Bill Eger, Vice Chairman <br /> Floyd Miguel <br /> Jesse Manlapit <br /> Mahina Maxey <br /> Linda S. Smith resigned from the Board in 1995. Mahina Maxey was appointed and <br /> confirmed to serve out the balance of Linda Smith's term which expires in 1996. <br /> Accordingly as of December 1996 a vacancy will exist. We have been advised by counsel <br /> that the charter restriction on re-appointments does not apply to the Board of Review. <br /> Accordingly, we recommend the immediate re-appointment of Mrs. Maxey to the Board for <br /> a full five year term. Mrs. Maxey has been a valuable addition to the Board and has <br /> provided thoughtful and thorough input to our discussions. <br /> Any potential appointee should be apprised of the demands on their time that service on <br /> this Board entails before their names are submitted to the County Council for confirmation <br /> 1 <br /> <br />
