REQUEST: <br /> <br /> Prepare a ordinance to appropriate additional funds as follows: <br /> Capital Improvement project - Makalei Fire Station $4,114,000 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): <br /> <br /> The funds for the new Makalei fire station were established in Ordinance No 09-65 with and additional <br /> appropriation of $2,425,000. The Hawaii County Fire Department applied for and was recently notified of <br /> the approval of the grant application from the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program, from the US <br /> Department of Homeland Security (American Recovery and Reinvestment Act). The project costs amount <br /> to $9,568,000. The Federal grant is $4,114,000 and the County's share is $5,454,000. The period of <br /> performance is 9/25/09 to 9/24/12.
