The amendment is as follows: <br /> <br /> Account No. Source Fund Amount <br /> 3308.50 Federal Grants - North Kohala Agricultural Processing Facility Grant General $ 20,000 <br /> <br /> Total $ 20,000 <br /> <br /> Account No. Function and Activity Fund Amount <br /> <br /> 010.161.5163.14 North Kohala Agricultural Processing Facility Grant General $ 20,000 <br /> <br /> Total $ 20,000 <br /> <br /> The State of Hawaii Department of Business Economic Development and Tourism has <br /> authorized a grant from the U.S. Department of Commerce Economic Development <br /> Administration to allow the Hawaii County Department of Research and Development develop <br /> a master plan for the North Kohala Agricultural Processing Facility. This facility will serve the <br /> community by enabling farmers to process taro into poi and their vegetables into value added <br /> products, by being a distribution center with refrigerated storage facilities and by having a place <br /> to hold meetings and classes. <br /> Pursuant to Section 46-7, Hawaii Revised Statutes, and Section 13-13(b), Hawaii County <br /> Charter, the Mayor is hereby authorized to apply for, receive and expend the funds for the <br /> Department of Research and Development. <br /> <br /> David Fuertes from Ka Hana No`eau said the proposed facility will help the district prepare for <br /> the future of sustainability. <br /> <br /> <br /> FC Rept.
