No. 600 <br /> PLACE: Councilroom <br /> TIME: 9:00 a.m. <br /> <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> <br /> Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Communication No. 600, reports as follows: <br /> <br /> Communication No. 600, transmitted by Mayor Billy Kenoi, dated October 30, 2009, nominates <br /> Ms. Karolyn P. Lundkvist of Council District 5 to serve on the Hawaii County Salary <br /> Commission. <br /> <br /> A 13-year resident of Hawaii, Ms. Lundkvist and her husband are the owners of Lundkvist <br /> Aviation Research and Lundkvist Palm Garden, where she works in accounts and sales. She is <br /> currently the President of the Rotary Club of Pahoa and a past Vice-President of the Rotary Club <br /> of Hilo Bay. She is also presently an outreach-coordinator for the Hawaii Association for Family <br /> and Communication Education. A republican, she will serve a term to expire on December 31, <br /> 2013. <br /> <br /> Pursuant to Section 13-28, Hawaii County Charter, the salary commission shall consist of nine <br /> members appointed by the mayor with the approval of the council. <br /> <br /> Several Council Members spoke in support of Ms. Lundkvist and thanked her for stepping <br /> forward. It was noted that Ms. Lundkvist had recently served as a member of the Police <br /> Commission. Corporation Counsel Lincoln Ashida also spoke in support of Ms. Lundkvist. <br /> <br /> Committee Chairman Onishi advised Ms. Lundkvist that she need not return to the next full <br /> Council meeting for final reading of her appointment. <br /> <br /> Your Committee on Finance is in accordance with the purpose and intent of Communication 600, <br /> and recommends the appointment of Ms. Karolyn P.
