Setting up a Food Policy Council is a step in the <br /> right direction for an island where, it is recognized, the backbone of the <br /> economy is agriculture. So many us (including myself) are involved in agriculture in a small way, but in a way that <br /> is important to us, for income, for health and for personal satisfaction. <br /> For others, agriculture is the major part of their life and their finances. We recognize too, the importance of <br /> agriculture to the land itself. And finally, we face the need to become more <br /> sustainable. <br /> Sustainability is not just a smoke dream. It is a real answer to many problems facing us. This resolution allows <br /> us to work toward the goal in an organized, rational way.
