<br />COUNTY OF HAWAI'I <br /> <br /> <br />STATE OF HAWAI'I <br /> <br />BILL NO. 192 <br /> <br />ORDINANCE NO. <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE DESIGNATING A PORTION OF TMK (3) 2-1-017:018 AS <br />"LALAKEA POND BEACH PARK" PURSUANT TO CHAPTER 15, ARTICLE 8, <br />SECTION 15-67 OF THE HAW AI'I COUNTY CODE 1983 (2005 EDITION, AS <br />AMENDED) AND AMENDING CHAPTER 15, ARTICLE 8, SECTION 15-68.1 OF THE <br />HA W AI'I COUNTY CODE 1983 (2005 EDITION, AS AMENDED) TO ADD "LALAKEA <br />POND BEACH PARK" TO THE PARKS AND RECREATIONAL FACILITIES <br />SCHEDULE. <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAW AI'I: <br /> <br />SECTION 1. Purpose. The purpose of this ordinance is to name a portion of Leleiwi <br />Beach Parle The subject parcel is an aesthetic area located in the Keaukaha area of South Hilo <br />within TMK (3) 2-1-017:018 and bounded by the direct extensions of Lokoaka Street and Kioea <br />Street to the shoreline. The area would be named "Uil2ikea Pond Beach Park" pursuant to <br />chapter 15, article 8, of the Hawai'i County Code, which establishes guidelines for the naming of <br />such facilities. Section 15-67(a)(1 )(A) provides that any "aesthetic area" shall retain any existing <br />name which has been historically accepted through common usage. The area has traditionally <br />been called L2iI2ikea Pond by the Keaukaha and Leleiwi Community, local fishermen, and long- <br />time area residents. <br /> <br />SECTION 2. Notwithstanding any other law to the contrary, that certain open area of <br />County land located within TMK(3) 2-1-017:018 and bounded by the easternmost limits of the <br />direct extension of Lokoaka Street, and the westernmost limits of the direct extension of Kioea <br />Street, is hereby named "Uiliikea Pond Beach Parle" <br /> <br />SECTION 3. Chapter 15, article 8, section 15-68.1, Hawai'i County Code 1983 (2005 <br />Edition, as amended), relating to the parks and recreational facility schedule, Parks, <br />Hilo/H2imiikua, is amended by adding the following facility to the Hilo/Hiim2ikua parks and <br />recreational facilities schedule, to be appropriately inserted and to read as follows: <br /> <br />"L2iI2ikea Pond Beach Park" <br /> <br />SECTION 4. New material is underscored. In printing this ordinance, the underscoring <br />need not be included. <br />
