Due to the extensive number of amendments proposed in Bill 194 and the community interest in efforts to amend the Puna CDP, which is already generating other suggestions for amendments, we anticipate that additional time will be necessary to properly review and comment on the proposed amendments. Chapter 16.2(1)(b) of the General Plan provides that the Planning Director shall have 60 days or a longer period, as may be agreed to by the County Council, to submit a recommendation on the proposal to the Planning Commission for its review and recommendation Therefore, I respectfully request an extended period of time to July 1, 2010 to allow for review and comment by the Action Committee and the Planning Director before submitting to the Windward Planning Commission.
