Council Chair and Members 1-lawai'i County Council Hilo, 1i1awai`i 96720 Your Committee on Public Works and Intergovernmental Relations. to which was referred Communication 714 and Resolution 306 -10, reports as follows: Resolution 306 -10, transmitted via Communication No. 714 from Council Member Kelly Greenwell, dated February 18, 2010, urges the Hawaii State Department of Transportation to instate a voluntary donation for private aircraft parking at Hilo and Kona International Airports to be paid into the healthcare system. There were three testifiers: one in support, one opposed and one who supports the concept but not • the language of this resolution. Council Member Kelly Greenwell explained the intent of this resolution is to reach out to visitors who might otherwise not engage in supporting the surrounding island community, and also to bring support to the shortfalls faced by Hawaii island healthcare systems. A committee or board would he formed to decide the distribution of said funds, island -wide. Tactical and strategic assistance is the aim. This could open the dialogue for other needs. The relatively Iarge figure of S2,500 was selected to capture attention of those who can participate.
