" <br /> <br />COUNTY OF HAWA ..<S1"ATE OF HAWAII <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. <br /> <br />354:,gi98 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION CREATING DEPUTY PROSECUTING ATTORNEY FOR THE <br />OFFICE OF THE PROSECUTING ATTORNEY. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney has received a grant <br />ftom the United States of America through the Department of Justice, Office of <br />Justice Programs, providing for salaries and wages as well as fringe benefi.ts for a <br />Deputy Prosecuting Attorney; and <br />WHEREAS, early identification of the misdemeanor committals and <br />felony sexual assault and domestic violence cases involving adult women victims <br />handled by one deputy attorney until disposition will expedite prosecution; and <br />WHEREAS, the victim's comfort level and confidence inthe deputy will <br />be established, and therefore increase the likelihood of a successful prosecution; <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, funds are available in the regular salariesand wages account <br />through the Violence AgainstWomen~ a federally-funded program; and <br />WHEREAS, Article V, Section 5-1.3(c) of the Hawaii County Charter states <br />that the Mayor has the power to "Create positions...for which appropriations <br />have been made by the counciL.". <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE <br />COUNTY OF HAW All that one (1) Deputy Prosecuting Attorney position be <br />created in the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney. <br />
