<br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE COUNTY OF HAWAII, THROUGH ITS
<br />DEPARTMENT OF RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT TO ENTER INTO AN
<br />AGREEMENT FOR NON-BID PURCHASE OF GOODS AND SERVICES WITH THE
<br />DEPARTMENT OF BUSINESS, ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT, AND TOURISM (DB EDT}
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Hawaii Revised statutes, S~ction 201A,the State of Hawaii,
<br />through its Department of Business, EconomicDevelopment, and Tourism (DBEDT), may
<br />contract with qualified private and public agencies, associations, firms~ or individuals within or
<br />without the State in pursuance of its duties andfunctioris; and
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, funding is made available to DBEDT pursuant to Act 328, SLH 1997; and
<br />
<br />WHEREAS. DBEDT desires to provide the County of Hawaii with such funding for
<br />promotion of film and television production on the Big Island of Hawaii, providing County
<br />resource services to production companies and promoting the Big Island of Hawaii as a viable
<br />destination for filmmakers; .
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, Section 46-7, Hawaii Revised Statutes, requires that County departments
<br />obtain the consent of the Council to enter into agreements with the federal or state govemements
<br />respecting action to be taken pursuant to any of the powers. granted by law to furnish, expend,
<br />and received any funds or other assistance in connection with projects being or to be undertaken
<br />pursuant to those powers.

<br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF
<br />HA W All, that the County of Hawaii, through its Department of Research and Development, is
<br />authorized to enter into an Agreement for Non-Bid Purchase of Goods and Services with the
<br />Department of Business, Economic Development, and Tourism.
<br />
<br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor of the County of Hawaii is authorized to
<br />sign the above-referenced agreement and any related documents on behalf of the Department of
<br />Research and Development and the County of Hawaii pursuant to the County Charter.
