Hookano, Commission Attorney w' <br /> Fri <br /> Date: January 22, 2010 <br /> o f <br /> Re: Request for Extension of Commission Report Deadline to April 13, 2010 — 0 ) <br /> Chair Yoshimoto and Members of the Hawai`i County Council, <br /> The 2009 -2010 charter commission respectfully requests that the county council <br /> extend the deadline for the commission to file its report to April 13, 2010. Hawaii <br /> Revised Statutes § 50 -8 states that "within one year of its appointment, the charter <br /> commission shall submit a report in writing on its activities, findings, and <br /> recommendations to the legislative body of the county together with a draft of the <br /> proposed charter." This would require the commission to file its report by March 13, <br /> 2010. Due to the workload of the commission, as well as its desire to thoroughly <br /> consider each proposed amendment, the commission would like more time to complete <br /> its work on the report to the county council. <br /> I respectfully request that this matter be placed on February 3, 2010, council <br /> agenda.
