REQUEST: <br />Prepare resolution authorizing the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the State of Hawaii, Department. <br />of Land and Natural Resources, Legacy Lands Conservation Commission to accept funds for the <br />acquisition of Pa'o'o. <br />B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): <br />The County of Hawai'i applied for grant funding from the State of Hawai'i, Department of Land <br />and Natural Resources, Legacy Land Conservation Commission for the acquisition of Pa'o'o on <br />September 10, 2009. The State of Hawaii, Board of Land and Natural Resources approved the <br />Legacy Land Conservation Commission's grant of $945,000.00 to the County of Hawaii. The Board <br />of Land and Natural Resources must encumber these funds on or before June 30, 2010. <br />Since the BLNR needs to encumber these funds before June 30, 2010, we humbly ask that we waive the <br />Finance committee, and have this resolution heard at the Council Meeting scheduled for May 19, 2010. <br />SIGNED: <br />Departme Head <br />DATE: MAY - 3 2010 <br />
