REQUEST: <br /> 1) Requesting a resolution authorizing the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the State Department of <br /> the Attorney General to receive federal American Reinvestment & Recovery Act (ARRA) grant funds for the <br /> Domestic Violence Prosecution project. <br /> 2) Requesting a bill for an ordinance to appropriate $81,680 for the Domestic Violence Prosecution - ARRA <br /> project. <br /> 3) Requesting waiver of Finance Committee action to expedite approval process. <br /> B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): <br /> The County of Hawaii has been awarded grant funds from the Office on Violence Against Women STOP <br /> Formula Grant (VAWA) funded by the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act (ARRA) of 2009. The grant <br /> will provide one deputy prosecuting attorney to provide vertical prosecution of misdemeanor domestic <br /> violence and protective order crimes on Hawaii Island where the victim is an adult woman. <br /> We are requesting waiver of Finance Committee action so that we can immediately begin this program within <br /> the grant time frame, 7/1/10 to 3/31/11. <br /> SIGNED: DATE: 4, /l o / 0 <br /> ,Depa ment Head <br />
