oJr <v N <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII -•��''!_• STATE OF HAWAII <br /> . +j•`, MiL MOM i \� <br /> BILL NO. 269 <br /> ORDINANCE NO. <br /> AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 17 OF THE HAWAII COUNTY CODE 1983 <br /> (2005 EDITION, AS AMENDED), RELATING TO PLUMBING. <br /> BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII: <br /> SECTION 1. Chapter 17, article 1, section 17 -1 of the Hawai`i County Code 1983 (2005 <br /> Edition, as amended) is amended to read as follows: <br /> "Section 17 -1. Title and purpose. <br /> (a) This chapter shall be known as the "plumbing code," may be cited as such, and will <br /> be referred to herein as "this code." <br /> (b) The purpose of this code is to provide for the protection of the public health and <br /> safety by establishing minimum regulations for the installation, alteration, or repair <br /> of plumbing, gas, and drainage systems and the inspection thereof." <br /> SECTION 2. Chapter 17, article 1, section 17 -3 of the Hawai`i County Code 1983 (2005 <br /> Edition, as amended) is amended by amending the definition of "administrative authority" to <br /> read as follows: <br /> "[ "Administrative authority "] "Authority having jurisdiction" means the director of the <br /> department of public works, or the director's authorized representative(s)." <br /> SECTION 3. Chapter 17, article 2, division 4, section 17 -24 of the Hawai`i County <br /> Code 1983 (2005 Edition, as amended) is amended to read as follows: <br /> "Section 17 -24. Inspection required. <br /> (a) All plumbing, gas, and drainage systems shall be inspected by the administrative <br /> authority to ensure compliance with all the requirements of this code. Approval as a <br /> result of an inspection shall not be construed to be an approval of a violation of the <br /> provisions of this code or of any other ordinance. Inspections presuming to give <br /> authority to violate or cancel the provisions of this code or of any other ordinance <br /> shall not be valid. <br /> (b) It shall be the duty of the permit applicant to cause the work to remain accessible and <br /> exposed for inspection purposes.
