Finally, it had gone to the Governor for approval and signature. The effective <br /> date of the 2008 NEC was April 16, 2009. The four counties have eighteen months from the <br /> effective date to amend the State Building Code as it applies within their respective jurisdictions. <br /> Otherwise, the counties shall use the state model code and standards listed in Section 107E, <br /> Hawaii Revised Statutes, as the referenced model building code. <br /> The 2008 NEC with amendments is submitted as it relates to the State Building Code, <br /> with the exception of the administrative portion of the code which varies by each county. The <br /> Electrical Code in Chapter 9 is amended with the following: <br /> 1. Revised Scope. <br /> 2. The definition "Administrative authority" is amended to read "Authority having <br /> jurisdiction" (AHJ). <br /> 3. Addition of new definitions. <br /> 4. Amended Request for inspection <br /> 5.
