Crawford
Director
Deanna S. Sako
Deputy Director
Enclosed is a bill for an ordinance amending Chapter 19, related to Real Property Tax.
Section 19 -90(e) is amended to delete language that provides for certain properties
receiving a home exemption or totally disabled veteran exemption to be charged a
minimum tax of less than $100. This change would result in all properties with a market
value greater than $500 being taxed a minimum of $100.
The County Code currently allows for reductions below the $100 minimum tax for a
property owner receiving a home exemption or totally disabled veteran exemption which
results in the minimum tax, when the assessed value of the improvements is $75,000 or
Tess. The proposed change would affect approximately 6000 properties and result in
increased tax revenue of approximately $270,000.
If there are any questions, please do not hesitate to call Stan Sitko, Real Property Tax
Administrator.
Approved:
Nancy E.
