No. 881 /Res. 370 -10 <br /> PLACE: Councilroom <br /> TIME: 8:29 p.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawai`i County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawai`i 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 370 -10, reports as follows: <br /> Resolution No. 370 -10, transmitted jointly with Bill 271, by Director of Finance Nancy Crawford, <br /> via Communication No. 881, dated July 15, 2010, authorizes the Office of the Mayor to enter into an <br /> agreement with the State of Hawai`i Department of the Attorney General's Crime Prevention and <br /> Justice Assistance Division for a Cell Phone /PDA Violence Grant to the Hawai`i Police Department. <br /> The purpose of this grant is to improve Hawai`i Police Department's ability to respond to crimes <br /> against women perpetrated through wireless /electronic communication devices. Equipment will be <br /> updated or purchased to further enhance the retrieval of digital evidence for crimes involving <br /> domestic violence, sexual assaults, dating violence and /or stalking. <br /> Pursuant to Section 46 -7, Hawai`i Revised Statutes, County Departments must obtain the consent of <br /> the Council to enter into agreements with the federal or state governments respecting action to be <br /> taken pursuant to any of the powers granted by law to furnish, expend and receive any funds or other <br /> assistance in connection with projects being or to be undertaken pursuant to those powers. <br /> Lt.
