No. 887/Bill No. 272 <br /> PLACE: Councilroom <br /> Hawaii County Building <br /> 25 Aupuni Street <br /> Hilo, Hawaii <br /> TIME: 3:00 p.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawai`i County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawai`i 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Planning, to which was referred Bill No. 272, reports as follows: <br /> Bill No. 272, transmitted via Communication No. 887 from Mayor William P. Kenoi, dated <br /> July 7, 2010, presents a Change of Zone Request by EWM Investments, LLC, at Kapu'a and Puehuehu, <br /> Hawai`i, covered by Tax Map Key: 5 -4- 008:001 <br /> Bill No. 272 seeks to amend Section 25 -8 -9 (Hawi-Kapa'au Zone Map) and Section 25 -8 -7 (North and <br /> South Kohala District Zone Map), Article 8, Chapter 25 (Zoning Code) of the Hawai`i County Code 1983 <br /> (2005 Edition), by changing the district classification from Agricultural — Twenty Acres (A -20a) to <br /> Family - Agricultural — Two Acres (FA -2a), for an area of approximately 24.174 acres. <br /> There was no public testimony. Applicant was represented by Mr. Greg Mooers, Planner, and <br /> Mr. Charles Anderson, Agent, at the meeting. Applicant stated that project will start as soon as they <br /> receive Plan Approval. <br /> Your Committee members opined that this project was a good project and was in keeping with current <br /> trends towards downsizing agricultural properties to allow family enterprise and/or sustainability farming. <br /> There was no further discussion on the matter. <br /> Your Committee concurs with the Leeward Planning Commission's and the Planning Director's favorable <br /> recommendation for approval of the Change of Zone request.
