No. 888/Bill No. 274 <br /> PLACE: Councilroom <br /> Hawaii County Building <br /> 25 Aupuni Street <br /> Hilo, Hawaii <br /> TIME: 3:00 p.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Planning, to which was referred Bill 274, reports as follows <br /> Bill 274, transmitted via Communication 888 from Mayor William P. Kenoi, dated July 7, 2010, <br /> presents a Change of Zone Request by applicant Hawaii Island Development Corporation <br /> Bill No. 274 seeks to amend Section 25 -8 -7 (North and South Kohala Zone Map), Article 8, <br /> Chapter 25 (Zoning Code) of the Hawaii County Code 1983 (2005 Edition), by changing the <br /> District Classification from Agricultural — 20 Acre (A -20a) and Single - Family Residential — <br /> 7,500 square feet (RS -7 5) to Single - Family Residential — 15,000 square feet (RS -15), <br /> Single - Family Residential — 10,000 square feet (RS -10), Single - Family Residential — 7,500 <br /> square feet (RS -7.5), and Open at Pahoa, North Kohala, Hawaii, covered by <br /> Tax Map Key: 5 -5- 019.025 and 027 (portions) for an area approximately 18 38 acres in size <br /> There is a concurrent application for amendments to the State Land Use district classification <br /> from Agricultural to Urban at Pahoa, North Kohala, Hawaf i, for approximately 12 737 acres of <br /> land, covered by Tax Map Key 5 -5 -019 025 and 027 <br /> There was no public testimony. Mr. Keith Kato was present at the meeting, representing the <br /> applicant. Discussion regarding Bill 274 was combined with its sister -bill, Bill 273 See <br /> Planning Committee Report No 90 for summary of discussion. <br /> Council Member Ford expressed concern regarding the completion of an archeological study <br /> Mr. Kato informed your Committee that a study was completed <br /> Your Committee concurs with the Leeward Planning Commission's and the Planning Director's <br /> favorable recommendation for approval of the Change of Zone request <br /> PC Report 91 <br />
