The General <br /> Plan calls for the formation of Action Committees, which would be appointed by the <br /> Mayor and confirmed by the County Council. <br /> The withdrawal of one of the initial nominees compelled the Planning Department to <br /> identify and nominate an alternate who is eager to participate in the CDP process as an <br /> Action Committee member. We would appreciate your attention on this matter and are <br /> requesting that this item be placed on the October 19, 2010, Planning Committee <br /> agenda for discussion and with confirmation of this individual on the October 20, 2010, <br /> full Council agenda. <br /> It is my pleasure to inform you that I have appointed the following individual to the South <br /> Kohala CDP Action Committee: <br /> 1. John Hoover (4 -year term) a former educator certified to teach in New York, <br /> California, and Hawaii, is the minister of the Hokuloa United Church of Christ in <br /> Puako. As a former Peace Corp volunteer, he taught both high school and college <br /> level English in Ethiopia for two years. John has lived in South Kohala for 20 years <br /> and is on the Board of Directors for the Puako Community Association and is a <br /> member of the Waikoloa Village Association. John was a dedicated participant in <br /> the development of the South Kohala CDP and supported the process by providing <br /> meeting space at the Hokuloa Church.
