REPORT OF THE <br />COMMITTEE ON FINANCE <br />DATE: October 5, 2010 Re: Comm. No. 9531Res. No. 394-10 <br />PLACE: Councilroom <br />TIME: 10.25 a.m. <br />Council Chair and Members <br />Hawaii County Council <br />Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br />Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 394 -10, reports as follows: <br />Resolution No. 394-10, transmitted by Director of Finance Nancy Crawford, via Communication <br />No. 953, dated September 22, 2010, authorizes the payment of funds of a later fiscal year and of <br />more than one fiscal year for a multi-year lease agreement for twenty (20) laptop computers to be <br />utilized by Emergency Medical Services (EMS) personnel of the Hawaii Fire Department. <br />The laptop computers will be used to document patient care, send critical information to <br />hospitals, and collect billing information from the incident site or other locations as needed. The <br />anticipated annual cost for the lease is approximately $28,373 and is fully reimbursable by the <br />State of Hawaii under the contract the County has with them. <br />Assistant Chief Ralph Iwata said the State converted from written to electronic reporting in 2006 <br />The current laptops were implemented in January 2007 and have since exceeded their warranties <br />and expected operating life.
