•'tv o s Nom,. <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII <br /> r. os•N►. <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 398 10 <br /> RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE OFFICE OF THE MAYOR TO ENTER <br /> INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE STATE OF HAWAII DEPARTMENT <br /> OF THE ATTORNEY GENERAL, PURSUANT TO HRS 46 -7, FOR A <br /> "NA'AUAO - WHERE KNOWLEDGE IS LEARNED" PROGRAM GRANT <br /> FOR THE HAWAII POLICE DEPARTMENT <br /> WHEREAS, the State of Hawaii Department of the Attorney General, Crime <br /> Prevention and Justice Assistance Division has authorized funding for a "Na'auao — <br /> Where Knowledge is Learned" program grant for the Hawaii Police Department; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Hawaii Police Department has applied for accreditation with the <br /> Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA); and <br /> WHEREAS, the officers of the Hawaii Police Department need to be trained in <br /> accordance with the nationwide standards set forth by CALEA; and <br /> WHEREAS, this keeps officers informed, updated, in compliance with case law, <br /> and in touch with the newest, most effective ways in battling crime; and <br /> WHEREAS, the grant funds will be used to implement an intranet training module <br /> which will be capable of training officers in many required subjects, and will involve <br /> testing, re- testing if required, storing training information, and tracking the training <br /> received by officers; and <br /> WHEREAS, the funds provided by the State of Hawaii Department of the Attorney <br /> General are derived from grants provided by the federal government; and <br />
