Expenditures of this fund are to be made in accordance with appropriations <br /> adopted by the Hawaii County Council after receiving recommendations from the Planning <br /> Director. <br /> Council Member Emily Naeole- Beason has requested that $184,965 of Geothermal <br /> Relocation and Community Benefits funds be used to fund park alterations and <br /> improvements in the District 5 community. Planning Director BJ Leithead Todd has given <br /> her recommendation towards this request. <br /> Enclosed is a resolution transferring the monies into the Capital Projects Fund from the <br /> Geothermal Relocation and Community Benefits funds for this project. Also enclosed is a <br /> bill for an ordinance to add the Discretional Projects - Geothermal Funds - Council District 5 <br /> project to this fiscal year's Capital Budget. This project includes the following: <br /> • Conversion of the former Pahoa Fire Station to a senior center. <br /> • Construction of a new dog park at the unused Pahoa baseball field <br /> • Construction of a horseshoe pit facility near existing playground <br /> • Construction of a perimeter walkway system near upper field, and <br /> • Miscellaneous improvements to District 5 parks <br /> To help expedite this project, the Department of Parks and Recreation requests that the <br /> resolution and bill be waived from the Finance Committee and heard at the <br /> October 20, 2010 Council meeting. <br /> .
