Fax (808) 326 -5663, <br />October 22, 2010 <br />Council Chairman J Yoshimoto <br />and Members of the County Council <br />County of Hawai'i <br />Hilo, HI 96720 - <br />Dear Chairman Yoshimoto and Council Members: <br />It is my pleasure to nominate the following individuals to the County of Hawai'i Fire Commission: <br />Council District 2 — James "Kimo" Lee is a 46 -year resident of Hawai'i. Since 2006, he has been <br />employed by WH Shipman, Ltd. as the Director of Development. Mr. Lee presently serves on the <br />State of Hawai'i Burial Council, and the County of Hawai'i Workforce Investment Board. He is a <br />committee member of Hospice of Hawai'i and the Catholic Church's Land Asset Committee. He states <br />that he is not affiliated with any political party. If confirmed, he will serve a term to expire on <br />December 31, 2011. <br />Council District 4 — M. Luahiwa Namahoe is a lifelong resident of Hawai'i. Since 2009, she has been <br />employed by Pro Service Hawai'i as their Business Development Manager. From 1996 to 2008 she <br />was employed by Aha Punana Leo as a Communications Coordinator. Ms. Namahoe is the secretary <br />of the Keaukaha - Panaewa Farmers Association and sits on the advisory board of Malamalama <br />Waldorf School. She states that she is not affiliated with any political party. If confirmed, she will <br />serve a term to expire on December 31, 2013. <br />Council District 5 — Gregory C. Henkel is a 23 -year resident of Hawai'i. He is an artist and a <br />manufacturer, and he is presently employed by Connections PCS as an instructor. <br />Mr. Henkel is a member of the Black Sands Beach POA and the Puna Canoe Club. He states that he <br />is not affiliated with any political party. If confirmed, he will serve a term to expire on December 31, <br />2012. <br />Council District 8 — Byron K. Moku is a 9 -year resident of Hawai'i. Since 2001, he has been <br />employed by 1250 Oceanside Partners as their Cultural Resource Manager. Mr. Moku is a member of <br />the Hawai'i Island YMCA, The Neighborhood Place of Kona, LaTopua 2020 and the Kailua Village <br />Business Improvement District. He states that he is not affiliated with any political party. If confirmed, <br />he will serve a term to expire on December 31, 2014. <br />Council District 9 — Toby Taniguchi is a lifelong resident of Hawai'i. He is the Executive Vice <br />President of Operations for KTA Superstores. Mr. Taniguchi is a board member of the Hawai'i Island <br />United Way, The Boys and Girls Club, the Girl Scout Council of Hawaii, the Hawai'i Japan Center and <br />the Hawai'i Island Food Basket. He states that he is not affiliated with any political party.
