1 the transient accommodations tax accounts for approximately 5.5% <br /> 2 of Hawaii County's general fund budget, on Maui the transient <br /> 3 accommodations tax accounts for approximately 3.9% of Maui's <br /> 4 general fund budget, and on Oahu the transient accommodations <br /> 5 tax accounts for approximately 3.2% of Honolulu's general fund <br /> 6 budget; and <br /> 7 <br /> 8 WHEREAS, maintaining the current allocation of the <br /> 9 transient accommodations tax would allow the counties to <br /> 10 continue providing essential government services to visitors and <br /> 11 residents; and <br /> 12 <br /> 13 WHEREAS, losing the current allocation of the transient <br /> 14 accommodations tax would require counties to significantly raise <br /> 15 property taxes; now, therefore, <br /> 16 <br /> 17 BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the <br /> 18 Twenty -sixth Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session <br /> 19 2011, that the Governor and the Legislature are urged to <br /> 20 preserve the counties' share of the transient accommodations <br /> 21 tax; and <br /> 22 <br /> 23 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that certified copies of this <br /> 24 Resolution be transmitted to the Governor, the Senate President, <br /> 25 the President of the Hawaii State Association of Counties, and <br /> 26 the Mayors of the counties of Kauai, Hawaii, Honolulu, and Maui. <br /> 27 <br /> 28 <br /> 29 OFFERED BY: <br />
