No. 231-00 <br /> <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> <br /> TIME: 10:35 A.M. <br /> <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 231-00, reports as follows: <br /> Resolution No. 231-00, transmitted jointly with Bill No. 232 by Finance Director <br /> Harry Takahashi, via Communication No. 707, dated March 10, 2000, authorizes the Office of <br /> <br /> the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the University of Hawaii at Manoa for aCOPS- <br /> Alcohol Prevention Grant. <br /> The University of Hawaii at Manoa has authorized funding to conduct covert operations to <br /> decrease the means by which juveniles obtain alcohol. <br /> Pursuant to Section 46-7, Hawaii Revised Statutes, county departments must obtain the consent <br /> of the council to enter into agreements with the federal or state governments respecting action to <br /> be taken pursuant to any of the powers granted by law to furnish, expend and receive any funds <br /> or other assistance in connection with projects being or to be undertaken pursuant to those <br /> powers. <br /> The Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into an agreement with the Department of <br /> Transportation, State of Hawaii, to decrease the purchase and consumption of alcohol by teens <br /> in the County of Hawaii. <br /> Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 231-00 <br /> and recommends its adoption. <br /> smc <br /> AYES NOES A&E Ex Respectfully submitted <br /> CHUNG X <br /> ELARIONOFF x COMMITTEE ON FINANCE <br /> JACOBSON X <br /> LEITHEAD-TODD X <br /> PISICCHIO X <br /> SMITH X <br /> TYLER x AARON S.Y.
