No. 719/Bill No. 236 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> TIME: 10:35 A.M. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Bill No. 236, reports as follows: <br /> Bill No. 236, transmitted by Mayor Stephen K. Yamashiro, via Communication No. 719, dated <br /> March 22, 2000, amends Ordinance No. 99-41, relating to the issuance of general obligation <br /> <br /> bonds for the purpose of financing various public improvements for the County of Hawaii. <br /> Ordinance No. 99-41 authorized the County of Hawaii to issue and sell general obligation bonds <br /> in the amount of $30,000,000. Section 14 of the ordinance consisted of a list of public <br /> improvement projects to be funded. <br /> <br /> The purpose of this bill is to add to the following projects: <br /> A) Puainako Extension $3,000,000 <br /> B) Microwave Relocation & System Renovation $8,000,000 <br /> C) Upper Waiakea Stream Flood Control Improvements $ 900,000 <br /> D) Edith Kanakaole Tennis Stadium Improvements $ 200,000 <br /> Furthermore, in Section 14 the project identified as ADA Compliance in the amount of <br /> $4,000,000 is redirected as follows: A) The Department of Parks and Recreation -ADA <br /> Compliance, at an estimated cost of $2,000,000; and B) The Department of Public Works -ADA <br /> Compliance, at an estimated cost of $2,000,000. <br /> Pursuant to Section 47-5, Hawaii Revised Statutes, by an affirmative vote oftwo-thirds of its <br /> members, the County Council may apply proceeds to such other public improvement projects as <br /> it deems appropriate. <br /> Recognizing the need to adjust the total bond amount your Committee deleted the following <br /> projects: <br /> 1) Kaumana Drive Improvements $ 800,000 <br /> 2) Waianuenue Drive Rd & Bikeway Imprv $2,000,000 <br /> 3) Edith Kanakaole Tennis Stadium Improvements $ 200,000 <br /> 4) Microwave Relocation & System Renovation $8,000,000 <br /> Your Committee also amended Bill No. 236 by deleting the entire Purpose Section as it included <br /> reference to projects not included within this Bill. <br /> FC REPORT NO. 252 <br /> 1 ~ zoo0 <br /> <br />
