COUNTY OF HAWAII <br />RESOLUTION NO. <br />STATE OF HAWAII <br />33 11 <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF A MONETARY DONATION OF <br />$1,000 TO THE DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND RECREATION TO SUPPORT THE LAWA <br />KUA NUI / BIG KIDS HAWAII PROGRAM <br />WHEREAS, The Atlas Recycling Centers, LLC is donating $1,000 to the Department <br />of Parks and Recreation; and <br />WHEREAS, these funds will be used to support the Lawa Kua Nui / Big Kids Hawai'i <br />Program which provides educational and athletic opportunities for children in grades five to <br />eight, who are unable to participate because they exceed the program's weight restrictions; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 13 -12, of the Hawaii County Charter provides that the <br />Council, on behalf of the County, may accept gifts of donations of money, securities or other <br />personal property or of real estate or any interest in real estate, and Chapter 2, Article 30, <br />Section 2 -162 (a) of the Hawaii County Code states that any gifts or donations of money, <br />securities, or personal property which fall within the capitalization procedures of the <br />Department of Finance, may be accepted by resolution approved by the Council; and <br />WHEREAS, the Hawaii County Department of Finance has requested that cash <br />donations of any amount be recorded and accepted through the formal Resolution process; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation recommends the acceptance of <br />this donation. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF <br />HAWAII that in accordance with Article XIII, Section 13 -12, of the Hawaii County Charter, <br />and Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2- 162(a) of the Hawaii County Code, the Council of the <br />County of Hawaii accepts this donation. <br />
