REPORT OF THE <br />COMMITTEE ON PLANNING <br />DATE: February 1, 2011 Re: Comm. 56 <br />PLACE: Council Chambers <br />Hilo, Hawaii <br />TIME: 5:00 p.m. <br />Council Chair and Members <br />Hawaii County Council <br />Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br />Your Committee on Planning, to which was referred Comm. 56, reports as follows: <br />Communication No. 56, from Mayor Billy Kenoi, dated January 5, 2011, requests confirmation <br />of the appointments of Loreli Eberhardt (4 -year term) and Chirstopher Roehrig (4 -year term) to <br />the South Kohala Community Development Plan (CDP) Action Committee: <br />Loreli Eberhardt is a 20 -year resident of South Kohala and an active member of her community. <br />She is the Founder of the Love in the Name, of Christ non -profit that provided social service <br />support to the community by serving as a clearinghouse to coordinate volunteer support. Loreli <br />has developed an extensive network of contacts and has previous experience in property <br />management. She believes that the function of the Action Committee is to advance the <br />implementation of the CDP goals and objectives. <br />Christopher Roehrig is a 32 -year resident of the South Kohala district and has been self <br />employed as an attorney since 1978, providing legal services in the Waimea area. He has served <br />as the President of the Exchange Club and is an avid paddler and member of the Kawaihae <br />Canoe Club, Christopher has extensive experience in dispute resolution and in the past has <br />served as an arbitrator in mediation cases. He believes that Waimea benefits greatly from its <br />residents, participating in community affairs and giving back to the community. <br />Both nominees were in attendance at the Waimea County Council office. <br />Committee Chair Hoffinann asked both nominees to introduce themselves and discuss their <br />background and work experience and to comment on their desire to serve. <br />Loreli Eberhardt stated she was born and raised in Hilo and has lived in Waimea for 20 years. <br />She has worked in the -hotel and travel industry for approximately 20 years, and in real estate <br />property management for six years. She also stated she was involved with the Hawaii Island . <br />Humane Society as well as .17 different churches in West.Hawai`i. <br />PC Report No. 9 <br />
