COUNTY OF HAWAII <br />STATE OF HAWAII <br />RESOLUTION NO. 29 11 <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF A DONATION OF <br />MATERIALS FOR THE KAMAKANA CHILDREN'S PLAYGROUND IN <br />HIGASHIHARA PARK, NORTH KONA FROM AN ANONYMOUS BENEFACTOR TO <br />THE COUNTY OF HAWAII DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND RECREATION. <br />WHEREAS, the Kamakana Children's Playground in Higashihara Park, North Kona had <br />reached a state of disrepair, had many safety problems, and was deteriorating rapidly; and <br />WHEREAS, community volunteers from the Rotary Club, Lion's Club, Drug Court <br />participants, and community volunteers donated hundreds of hours of labor to renovate the park; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 13 -12, of the Hawaii County Charter provides that <br />the Council, on behalf of the County, may accept gifts or donations of personal property; and <br />WHEREAS, a thoughtful, generous, and wonderful but anonymous benefactor is <br />donating pea gravel, fencing, an irrigation valve box, soil, masonry blocks, paint supplies, <br />hydraulic hose for the octopus, and other materials valued at $21,113.22 to refurbish the <br />Kamakana Children's Playground in Higashihara Park, effective December 31, 2010; now, <br />therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that in <br />accordance with Article XII1, Section 13 -12, of the Hawaii County Charter, the Council of the <br />County of Hawaii accepts the donation of materials valued in the amount of $21,113.22, <br />effective December 31, 2010. <br />
