No. 302-00 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> TIME: 10:53 A.M. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 302-00, reports as follows: <br /> Resolution No. 302-00, transmitted by Acting Director of Finance Dixie Kaetsu, via <br /> Communication No. 854, dated July 11, 2000, creates two School Crossing Guard hourly <br /> temporary positions for the Police Department, Administrative Division. <br /> The Police Department, Administrative Division, is desirous of creating two School Crossing <br /> Guard positions due to heavy traffic and speeding conditions at the intersection of: 1) Kealakehe <br /> Street and Kealaka`a Street and 2) Kealakehe Street and Onipa`a Street, which pose a great <br /> danger to the children on a daily basis. <br /> The aforementioned positions were not included in the FY 2000-01 budget because the problem <br /> <br /> at Kealakehe did not surface until a letter was received from District Superintendent Dan L Sakai <br /> dated May 30, 2000. <br /> Funds are available in the County of Hawaii Police Department, Administrative Division's <br /> Regular Salaries and Wages account. <br /> Pursuant to Article V, Section 5-1.3(c), Hawaii County Charter, the Mayor has the power to <br /> <br /> "create positions...for which appropriations have been made by the council...". <br /> Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 302-00 <br /> and recommends its adoption. <br /> smc <br /> AWES NOES A&E EX <br /> Respectfully submitted <br /> CHUNG X <br /> ELARIONOFF x COMMITTEE ON FINANCE <br /> JACOBSON X <br /> LEITHEAD-TODD X <br /> PISICCHIO X <br /> SMITH X <br /> Tvt,ER x AARON S.Y.
