`a. w <br /> PPP FOR THE PUBLIC WORKS AND <br /> PARKS AND RECREATION <br /> COMMITTEEJ UNE 14, <br /> Requirements <br /> A state building code shall include <br /> • The latest edition of the state fire code as adopted by the state fire code <br /> council." <br /> • "The latest edition of the Uniform Plumbing Code" (UPC) <br /> • "The latest edition of the International Building Code" (IBC) <br /> It also requires design standards relating to: <br /> • "Emergency shelters being built in compliance with hurricane resistant <br /> criteria" <br /> • "Essential government facilities requiring continuity of operations" <br /> • "Code provisions based on nationally published codes or standards" such <br /> as energy conservation standards, hurricane resistance criteria, onsite <br /> sewage disposal etc. <br /> • "Each county shall use the model codes and standards listed in section <br /> 107 -E, as the referenced model building codes and standards for its <br /> respective county building code ordinance..." <br /> Requirements continued <br /> "The governing body of each county shall amend the state building code as <br /> it applies within its respective jurisdiction" in accordance with section 46.1.5 <br /> (13). This can be done without approval of the state building code council. <br /> (section 107 -H) (a) <br /> "If the county does not amend the statewide model code within the two -year <br /> timeframe, the state building code shall become applicable as an interim <br /> county building code until the county adopts the amendments." (section <br /> 107 -H). <br /> Plumbing and electrical codes must be passed 30 days prior to the April 16, <br /> 2012 deadline in order to take effect by this date.
