[(g)](e) Promotional fares. <br /> (1) The purpose of this subsection is to provide lower bus fares when a new <br /> route or service is provided or to boost ridership on established routes. <br /> (2) The transit administrator may establish fares on a temporary basis for a <br /> period not to exceed ninety calendar days for bus routes and services. <br /> [(h3 Island wide transportation free zone. <br /> (1- The purpose of this subscction is to provide the public with a transportation <br /> alternative to the private automobile. The provision of an effective public <br /> economic, social and lifestyle benefits for the residents of Hawai`i County. The <br /> distances residents must travel for work, medical, education, and social needs will <br /> be alleviated by providing public transportation at no cost to the user. <br /> (2) The County of Hawai`i shall be designated a transportation kokua zone. Riders <br /> ..., . • - . . . _ . :ularly scheduled bus route operated by the County <br /> (3) The transportation kokua zone shall not apply to County contracted share ridetaxi <br /> services, County operated curb to curb van services or County operatcd non <br /> scheduled bus services. <br /> (4) The County wide transportation kokua zone shall terminate on June 30, 2011. <br /> (5) Within one year of the kokua zone's effective date, and again not later than ninety <br /> days prior to June 30, 2011, the transit administrator shall report to the Hawai`i <br /> County council on the impact of its implementation.] <br /> Section 18 -91.
